BISSELL Pet Foundation goes International – Until every pet has a home

“Every Purchase Saves Pets” – You too can help!

You may not be aware, but BISSELL is more than just one of the leading international home cleaning experts - we are also animal lovers! So much so that in 2011 Cathy Bissell founded BISSELL Pet Foundation® (BPF) as a natural extension of her love for animals and commitment to their welfare. BISSELL supports BPF in its global mission to save homeless pets. Therefore, we passionately develop products that make it easy to eliminate the mess of our dear furry friends and, at the same time, reduce the number of homeless pets with every purchase of these products. Here you can learn more about the BISSELL Pet Foundation.

The Motivation

BISSELL Pet Foundation (BPF) was founded in 2011 by Cathy Bissell in Michigan, US, as an extension of her deep love for animals. She grew up with pets and now lives with five adopted shelter dogs. Her first shelter dog, Bear, gave her the passion to help the many abandoned and neglected animals. "Being aware of how many loving pets are at the shelters hoping for a better life hurts me. With BISSELL Pet Foundation we can do our part to help them find a beautiful home," said Cathy Bissell.

Since the foundation

Since 2011, BISSELL Pet Foundation has fostered partnerships with over 5,000 animal welfare organizations and counting across the U.S. With the help of the constantly growing partner network, numerous private and professional sponsors & supporters, and millions of sales of BISSELL products and donations, BISSELL Pet Foundation has already been able to help over 300,000 animals in all 50 US states and Canada to find a loving home.

BISSELL supports BISSELL Pet Foundation in its global expansion

This commitment is now expanding to Europe and is being launched with the German charity “TIERSCHUTZLIGA - Stiftung Mensch und Natur” and the Dutch charity “Dierenbescherming”. " Together with our team we have already achieved a lot, but there is still a lot of work to be done. This motivates us to give as many pets as possible a home," explains Cathy Bissell. In addition to rescuing and rehoming pets, the foundation also supports medical care, neutering and castration, chip registration and education about responsible pet care. Further collaborations with European animal protection organizations are in the pipeline to be able to help even more animals in the future.
